Let's stop the train!
Rock star Bono made a great analogy yesterday to highlight the extremely important role that our generation has to play in the battle against poverty. During the session "G-8 and Africa: Rethoric or Action", he talked about a Jewish man he met, who was sent to a concentration camp when he was a child. This man told the rock star that the image he will never forget is that of the faces of all the people who watched the Jewish being put on a train without doing anything, who just stood there and didn't even bother to ask where that train was going. Touched by the story, U2's lead singer asked for his permission to tell the anecdote to encourage people to support his fight against AIDS and other diseases in Africa. The man said yes but wanted to know how he would do it. Bono explained: "This generation knows where the train is going and we will lie down in front of it". -- Joana Calmon

Bono and U2 for that matter perpetuate the goals of the united states and are nothing but puppets for those that are watching. Yes, a brave band of irish boys are going to save the world. Fuck off.

Trying to equate world hunger with state sponsored mass genocide is ridiculous. The Nazis targeted jews and others for extermination and created industries and infrustructure solely for this purpose. No regime is attempting to starve people to death on a mass scale. Bono is an ass.
